About
"With a voice as bold and beguiling as the songs she chooses, Straw carries the torch of traditional folk music with striking elegance and a fierce breath of originality…” - Triad City Beat
Drawing on the deep well of traditional music from the British Isles and America, Lindsay Straw puts her own spin on ageless songs with her intricate guitar and Irish bouzouki playing. Performing both solo and with groups like The New Grown-Ups, Fair Liberty’s Call, Andy Cambria, and The Ivy Leaf, she’s performed throughout the US and Ireland, playing everything from folk festivals and house concerts to weddings and farmers markets. She also teaches privately, co-organizes the annual bouzouki-centric Zoukology weekend (NM), and sometimes teaches through the Passim School of Music (MA).
Outside of performing, Lindsay spent 2020-2024 in the boutique guitar retail world, working in marketing positions at Carter Vintage Guitars (formerly The North American Guitar), Cedar Rock Studio & Guitar Gallery, and The Music Emporium. Her compositions and arrangements can be heard in countless guitar demos. She also hosted the Talking Guitar podcast.
